Abstract. – An emendation on Ov. fast. 5,338 (imprudens utitur arte †meri†) is offered. After Rudolf Merkel had suggested chori instead of meri (and had withdrawn his suggestion immediately) the paradosis has not been contested, although the expression has no real parallel as Maria Hirt has rightly pointed out recently. Since not only the wider context of the Floralia but also the verses about the conuiuium encourage com­pa­ri­son with Ov. ars 1,229f. and 597-606 I suggest reading arte me<a> (or even Arte me<a>) instead of arte meri.
